Serbian Mine Action Centre participated in the work of the 19th international Symposium "Mine Action 2023", which was held from May 3 to 5, 2023, in Vodice, Republic of Croatia, organized by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Croatia and the Croatian Mine Action Centre - Center for testing, development and training.

At thе Symposium, which brought together experts in the field of mine action, representatives of donors, international humanitarian organizations, demining centers from Southeast Europe, manufacturers of machines and equipment for demining, protective equipment for deminers and other accompanying equipment and tools related to demining, experiences and opinions were exchanged on the following topics:

- Ukraine – urgent response to war events / challenges and opportunities;

- Explosive remnants of war and their impact on infrastructure security;

- Mine victims;

- New technologies within mine action;

- Mine Action in Azerbaijan: Challenges and Opportunities.

SMAC Director, Mr Bojan Glamočlija, held a presentation entitled "Challenges and needs in underwater demining faced by the Republic of Serbia". The presentation highlighted mine action operations, as well as the challenges Serbia faces during implemetation of infrastructure projects in the ERW-contaminated area on the Danube and Sava rivers.

On the sidelines of the Symposium, the 30th meeting of the South Eastern Europe Mine Action Coordination Council (SEEMACC) was held, where the results of SMAC cooperation with Protection and Rescue Directorate of the Republic of North Macedonia were presented regarding the provision of technical assistance and support from SMAC to this Directorate, in the form of providing equipment and experts for the purpose of in-depth scanning of the terrain in order to detect aircraft bombs remaining from the 2nd World War in the vicinity of Skopje.
