CONDUCT OF EXPLOSIVE ORDNANCE DISPOSAL - LEVEL 1 TRAINING (EOD - LEVEL 1) ARRANGED BY SERBIAN MINE ACTION CENTRE
Within the cooperation of the Mine Action Centre of the Republic of Serbia and the Embassy of France in Belgrade, for the first time since the foundation of the SMAC in 2002, Explosive Ordnance Disposal - Level 1 Training (EOD - Level 1) is being held in the period from 21 September 2020 to 10 October 2020.
EOD level 1 training is conducted on the basis of the Plan and Program of the French land and underwater demining company "EOD-EX", and in accordance with the International Mine Action Standards (IMAS). The lecturers are recognized French instructors who have many years of experience in both humanitarian demining and the conduct of international EOD training courses of all levels.
The training is held in expanded business capacities within the SMAC, i.e. teaching premises with a ground and site for training of pyrotechnicians in Grocka.
Among the trainees is a member of the Sector for Emergency Management of the Ministry of Interior of Serbia, as well as representatives of domestic demining companies, as well as demining companies from the region.
Upon completion of the training, the trainees will receive a certificate that has an international character.
On 29 September 2020, in the arrangement of the SMAC, in expanded business capacities within the SMAC, i.e. teaching premises with a ground and site for training of pyrotechnicians in Grocka, a ceremony was held on the occasion of this training, with the participation of representatives of the Ministry of Interior, French Embassy, Delegation of the EU to Serbia, local self-management, Government of Serbia Human Resources Management Service, media and others.
On that occasion, General Slavoljub Dabić, Special Advisor to the Minister in the Ministry of Interior, addressed the assembly, emphasizing the need for new directions of development in the field of mine action, and Bojan Glamočlija, Director of the SMAC, who presented the previous results related to explosive remnants of war in Serbia, and the goals related to expanded business capacities within the SMAC, i.e. teaching premises with a ground and site for training of pyrotechnicians in Grocka.
Constantinos Prevelakis, Counsellor at the French Embassy, also addressed the assembly, emphasizing readiness of France to continue supporting Serbia in this area, as well as Franck Hissiger, EOD-EX Technical Adviser, who spoke about mine action in accordance with international standards, with an emphasis on the problems and their solution in the world and in the Balkans.
Demonstration of the work of pyrotechnicians in accordance with IMAS was also held.
