INTRODUCTION INTO WORKS FOR „SJENICA - VAPA“ PROJECT IN SJENICA
On 2 Оctober 2020, with the introduction of a selected contractor into works, implementation of cluster munitions clearance project from the Sjenica-Vapa site, Municipality of Sjenica, total area 338,416 m2, commenced.
The project has been developed by Serbian Mine Action Center that will monitor the implementation and perform quality control over the works.
The contractor is NGO “In Demining”, Pale, Republic of Srpska, Bosnia and Herzegovina. Company “Eksploring” d.o.o., Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina, has been employed by ITF and a donor as a monitoring organization on this project.
Funds for the implementation of this project have been provided, through ITF Enhancing Human Security, by donations from the U.S.A.
Upon clearance of this location, danger that cluster munitions pose to locals will be eliminated and it will enable optimal cultivation of meadows, pastures and agricultural land, which is of importance for the locals oriented to agriculture and cattle breeding.
