VISIT TO UPCOMING DEMINING AND CLUSTER MUNITIONS CLEARANCE/TECHNICAL SURVEY PROJECTS SITES
In the period 19-20 August 2020, the Mine Action Centre, in cooperation with ITF Enhancing Human Security, organized visits to demining and cluster munitions clearance/technical survey projects sites for potential contractors.
The projects developed by the Mine Action Centre, and funded, through ITF Enhancing Human Security, by the Government of Serbia and the United States of America refer to the mine contaminated site area of 269.280 sqm in the Municipality of Bujanovac, cluster munitions contaminated site area of 515.000 sqm in the Municipality of Tutin aimed for technical survey, as well as 3 cluster munitions contaminated site areas of 502.340 sqm aimed for clearance in the Municipality of Sjenica.
Potential contractors had the opportunity to get acquainted with the specificities and complexities of these projects in the field in order to adequately examine the project tasks and develop bids for conducting demining and cluster munitions clearance/technical survey operations on these sites.
The tender procedures for the selection of contractors for the implementation of these projects, organized by ITF and with the participation of representatives of donor embassy and our Center, will be completed in the following period.
The Mine Action Center will introduce the selected contractors into the works, monitor the implementation and conduct quality control of the works and eventually issue clearance certificates for these sites in accordance with our projects and international standards.
Upon completion of these projects, the danger that mines and cluster munitions represent for the local population and the environment will be eliminated, while at the same time safe and optimal land use will be enabled.
