Introduction into Works for „Pančić’s Peak -2“ Project on Kopaonik
On 19 June 2020, with the introduction of a selected contractor into works, implementation of cluster munitions clearance project from the Pančić’s Peak 2 site on Kopaonik, Municipality of Raška, total area 190.359 sqm, commenced.
The project has been developed by Serbian Mine Action Center that will monitor the implementation and perform quality control over the works.
Funds for the implementation of this project have been provided, through ITF Enhancing Human Security, by donations from the U.S.A. and the Republic of Korea.
The contractor is NGO Stop Mines, Pale, Republic of Srpska, Bosnia and Herzegovina. Company “Minemon” d.o.o., Pale, Republic of Srpska, Bosnia and Herzegovina, has been employed by ITF and donors as a monitoring organization on this project.
After clearance of unexploded cluster munitions from this area, a danger that they pose to people and environment will be eliminated, which will contribute to an increase of safety of all the visitors of the National Park “Kopaonik”, as the largest tourist centre for winter sports in Serbia.
