Introduction into Works for „Sjenica - Vapa 1“ Project in Sjenica
On 11 June 2020, with the introduction of a selected contractor into works, implementation of cluster munitions clearance project from the Sjenica-Vapa 1 site, Municipality of Sjenica, total area 94.496 m2, commenced.
The project has been developed by Serbian Mine Action Center that will monitor the implementation and perform quality control over the works.
Funds for the implementation of this project have been provided, through ITF Enhancing Human Security, by donations from the U.S.A. and the Republic of Korea.
The contractor is company “Saturnia” d.o.o., Belgrade. Company “Eksploring”, Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina, has been employed by ITF and donors as a monitoring organization on this project.
Upon clearance of this location, danger that cluster munitions pose to locals will be eliminated and it will enable optimal cultivation of meadows, pastures and agricultural land, which is of importance for the locals oriented to agriculture and cattle breeding.
