Demolition of cluster munitions on Medoševac project
On the 6th December 2019, demolition of cluster munitions found on Project for Cluster Munitions Clearance from the Medoševac Site, Crveni Krst Municipality, City of Niš, was carried out.
In the presence of representatives of the Mine Action Center, the demolition was carried out by representatives of the Sector for Emergency Management of the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Serbia. 4 cluster bombs BLU - 97 found on this project so far were destroyed on this occasion.
Given that cluster munitions must be destroyed in situ, without moving, with all safety measures undertaken, it was also necessary to adequately prepare demolition sites by covering cluster munitions with sandbags and water bags to prevent any threat to human lives, and to avoid fire and property damage.
