Completion of Demining Project at Končulj Singerit site in Bujanovac
On 10 October 2019, the final quality control of the works conducted on the part of the "Končulj-Singerit" site, manually and by MDDs, where no critical errors determined by this Project were established, saw the completion of the field operations in accordance with Demining Project of the "Končulj-Singerit" site, the Municipality of Bujanovac, totaling 198,600 sqm.
During the implementation of this project, the contractor “Stop mines”, Pale, Bosnia and Herzegovina, found 20 pieces of anti-personnel mines (7 pcs. PMA-2, 3 pcs. PMR-2A, 10 pcs. PMA -3), which were destroyed by the members of the Sector for Emergency Management of the Ministry of Interior.
The project has been financed by the funds of the Government of the Republic of Serbia, allocated for the humanitarian demining operations in the Bujanovac Municipality, and matched through ITF Enhancing Human Security by the donation of the US State Department and the donation of the Republic of Korea.
Demining of the location contributes to an increase of safety of local population, and provide possibilities for safe exploitation of forest, cattle grazing and picking of mushrooms, which are one of main sources of an income of local population.
