SMAC Participation in the 26th International Meeting of Mine Action National Directors and United Nations Advisers (NDM-UN26)

In the period from June 22 to 23, 2023, at the seat of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) in Geneva, SMAC representatives participated in the 26th International Meeting of Mine Action National Directors and United Nations advisors.

The meeting was organized by the UN Mine Action Service (UNMAS) and the Geneva International Center for Humanitarian Demining (GICHD).

The theme of this year's meeting was "Mine Action cannot wait".

SMAC representatives took part at the plenary session "Mine Action, Climate and Environment", pointing out practical examples of the connection between mine action and environment (cluster munitions clearance project in the Kopaonik National Park).

In the framework of the plenary session "Liability in the Land Relase Process", SMAC representatives, as panelists, presented challenges and opportunities they face.

The Geneva International Center for Humanitarian Demining (GICHD) organized a side event entitled "Operational efficiency in mine action: unpacking key performance indicators" - in which representatives of SMAC participated and presented their experiencesin the past period.
