VISIT TO PROJECT SITES WITH POTENTIAL CONTRACTORS
In the period 1-2 June 2022, the Serbian Mine Action Centre organized visit to demining, cluster munitions clearance and technical survey projects sites for potential contractors.
The projects developed by SMAC, and funded, through ITF Enhancing Human Security, by the Government of Serbia, the United States of America and the Republic of Korea refer to the site area of 143.500 sqm and the site area of 28.000 sqm contaminated with mines in the Bujanovac Municipality, the site area of 281.169 sqm contaminated with cluster munitions in the Bujanovac Municipality, as well as the site area of 131.900 sqm contaminated with cluster munitions in the Tutin Municipality.
Potential contractors had the opportunity to get acquainted with the specificities and complexities of these projects in the field in order to adequately examine the project tasks and develop bids for conducting cluster munitions clearance operations on these sites.
The tender procedures for the selection of contractors for the implementation of these projects, organized by ITF and with the participation of representatives of donor embassies and SMAC, will be completed in the following period.
SMAC will introduce the selected contractors into the works, monitor the implementation and conduct quality control of the works and eventually issue clearance certificates for these sites in accordance with our projects and International Mine Action Standards (IMAS).
Upon completion of demining, clearance and technical survey operations on these sites, the danger that mines and cluster munitions represent for the local population and the environment will be eliminated, while at the same time safe and optimal land use will be enabled.
