CELEBRATING THE INTERNATIONAL DAY FOR MINE AWARENESS AND ASSISTANCE IN MINE ACTION
At the suggestion of the United Nations (UN) since 2005, April 4, the International Day for Mine Awareness and Assistance in Mine Action, is being celebrated.
On this occasion, SMAC director Mr Bojan Glamočlija, attended the commemoration of the event, organized by the Bosnia and Herzegovina Mine Action Center in cooperation with Demining Commission in BiH and supported by UNDP BiH, NGO Norwegian People’s Aid and Brčko District Government.
The aim was to once again draw attention to the problem of mines and unexploded ordnance in BiH, and the need to find a proper solution in line with deadlines set by the BiH Mine Action Strategy and international obligations governing this area.
