MEETING WITH REPRESENTATIVES OF QUALITY SOLUTIONS INTERNATIONAL LTD (QSI)
On the 23rd Мarch 2022, in the premises of the Serbian Mine Action Centre, a meeting was held with representatives of the New Zealand based independent consultancy Quality Solutions International Ltd (QSI).
At the request of ITF Enhancing Human Security, this company has been conducting assessments of ITF/US-funded demining organisations.
As a reminder, QSI visited SMAC for the first time in 2020, and they also on that occasion visited several demining organisations participating at ITF/US – funded tenders in Serbia. This year they focused on demining company Saturnia ltd., which was engaged on cluster munitions clearance projects in the Municipality of Sjenica in 2021.
SMAC Director, Mr Bojan Glamočlija discussed with Mr Hemi Morete, Managing Director of QSI, among other, remaining ERW problem in the Republic of Serbia, as well as challenges with which Serbia is faced in the area of mine action.
In addition, he highlighted the need for training of deminers, as well as training related to EORE, given that since 2020, SMAC has expanded business capacities, i.e. established teaching premises with a ground and site for training of pyrotechnicians in Grocka, where international training courses have already been carried out in the previous period.
