 Regional Technical Survey Course Held in Sarajevo

Serbian Mine Action Centre participated in the Regional Technical Survey Course, which was held in the period 6-10 September 2021, in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and organized by the Geneva International Center for Humanitarian Demining (GICHD) in partnership with Norwegian People's Aid (NPA).

SMAC was represented by Director, Mr Bojan Glamočlija and Assistant Director - Head of the Sector for Legal Affairs and Operational Support, Ms Jelena Krstić.

Among the attendees were representatives of the Bosnia and Hercegovina Mine Action Centre (BHMAC), the Croatian Mine Action Center (CROMAC), Norwegian People's Aid (NPA), global humanitarian organization Mines Advisory Group (MAG), company Millennium Team ltd. Belgrade, etc.

The training course was held at the Norwegian People's Aid Global Training Centre for Detection Dogs, where the attendees had the opportunity to gain theoretical knowledge, but also practical, through demonstration exercises and presentations. Among other things, a new SMART system that is being developed for the use of dogs in demining has been presented, as well as the capacities and manner of dog training.

The participants were awarded with internationally recognized certificates confirming successful education.

SMAC uses the opportunity to thank the organizers – GICHD and NPA for the invitation and enabling the participation of SMAC’s representatives on this course, which was conducted by eminent experts in this field.
