The aim of this course was to train participants in the practise of non –technical survey (NTS) - identification, collection, analysis and recording of evidence of contamination - ie, a method which focuses on determining the extent and nature of explosive ordnance contamination in post-conflict countries. It is a key element of the process of releasing suspected land and handing it over to conflict-affected communities. By improving the quality of NTS, operational assets can be allocated with increased precision, so that the land can be safe from explosives more quickly and with fewer resources.

During the course, the participants acquired the skills necessary for effective non-technical survey and tested new methodologies, technologies and applications.

The participants were awarded with internationally recognized certificates confirming successful education.

SMAC uses the opportunity to thank the organizers and the GICHD for the invitation and enabling the participation of SMAC’s representative on this course, which was conducted by eminent experts in this field.
