Ponikve Airport site visit
On June 2, 2021, in order to look at the situation and solve the problem related to contamination with explosive remnants of war, but also the problem of radioactive material and restoration of maneuvering areas at the Ponikve Airport complex, Serbian Mine Action Centre together with representatives of company Airports of Serbia ltd. and Public Company Nuclear Facilitiy of Serbia, went to assess the hangars (reinforced concrete shelters) at the site.
Considering that the opening of Ponikve Airport for public and commercial traffic is planned, for which the Serbian Government has allocated significant funds, it is necessary to create conditions for safe execution of works by clearing contaminated areas of explosive remnants of war and making all necessary remediation related to possible existence of radioactive material.
