Continuation of works in accordance with
“Sjenica – Čedovo 1” project
17th May 2021 saw the continuation of the implementation of cluster munitions clearance project from one more site in the Municipality of Sjenica.
Due to unfavourable weather conditions, cluster munitions clearance project developed by SMAC, for the “Sjenica – Čedovo 1” site, total area 74.474 sqm, had been suspended.
After the representatives of the Serbian Mine Action Centre checked the documentation and equipment that will be used, contractor Saturnia Ltd. Belgrade, and company "Exploring" Ltd., Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina, hired by the ITF and donor as a monitoring organization, have been introduced into the continuation of works.
Funds for the implementation of the project have been provided, through ITF Enhancing Human Security, by donation from the U.S.A.
Upon clearance of the site, primary danger that cluster munitions pose to locals will be eliminated, and it will enable optimal cultivation of meadows, pastures and agricultural land, which is of importance for locals oriented to agriculture and cattle breeding.
