Completion of Кončulj-Singerit 1
Demining Project in Bujanovac
9th December 2020 saw the completion of the field operations in accordance with Demining Project of the "Končulj-Singerit 1" site, the Municipality of Bujanovac, totaling 269.280 sqm.
During the implementation of this project, contractor - N.G.O. IN Demining, Pale, Republic of Srpska, Bosnia and Herzegovina, found large amount of abandoned weapons and mine-explosive devices. These were reported to the Police Station in Bujanovac, whose officers, upon receiving the request, took the devices from the site.
The project has been financed by the funds of the Government of the Republic of Serbia, allocated for the humanitarian demining operations in the Bujanovac Municipality, and matched through ITF Enhancing Human Security by the donation of the US State Department.
Demining of the site contributes to an increase of safety of local population, and provides possibilities for safe exploitation of forest, cattle grazing and picking of mushrooms, which are one of main sources of an income of local population.
On this occasion, for exceptional cooperation and support to successful implementation of this project, the Mine Action Center of the Republic of Serbia presented recognition letters to Mayor of the Bujanovac Municipality - Mr Nagip Arifi, President of the Provisional Authority of PE "Komunalac" Bujanovac - Mr Ruždi Halili, Police Station Bujanovac, President of the Končulj Local Community - Mr Ćerim Ameti, as well as the editor-in-chief of RTV Bujanovac - Mr Mukarrem Ameti.
In this way, long-term cooperation, based on open communication and provision of duly and accurate information at any time, which the Mine Action Centre of the Republic of Serbia has with the local community has been once again confirmed, and it will contribute to accomplishment of a joint goal – completion of overall ERW related problems in this Municipality.
