INTRODUCTION INTO WORKS FOR „SJENICA - ČEDOVO 1“ PROJECT IN SJENICA
On the 29th October 2020, with the introduction of a selected contractor into works, implementation of cluster munitions clearance project from the Sjenica-Čedovo 1 site, Municipality of Sjenica, total area 74.474 m2, commenced.
The project has been developed by Serbian Mine Action Center that will monitor the implementation and perform quality control over the works.
Funds for the implementation of this project have been provided, through ITF Enhancing Human Security, by the donation from the U.S.A.
The contractor is company “Saturnia” Ltd., Belgrade. Company “Minemon” Ltd., Pale, Republic of Srpska, Bosnia and Herzegovina, has been employed by ITF and the donor as a monitoring organization on this project.
Upon clearance of this site, danger that cluster munitions pose to locals will be eliminated and it will enable optimal cultivation of meadows, pastures and agricultural land, which is of a significant importance for the locals oriented to agriculture and cattle breeding.
