Participation of the Mine Action Center at the International Round Table in Tehran
The Delegation of the Republic of Serbia Mine Action Center, at the invitation of the Mine Action Center of the Islamic Republic of Iran, took part in the international round table "Humanitarian Demining, Challenges and Best Practice", held in Tehran, in the period 12 - 14 March 2019.
In addition to the Iranian Mine Action Center, this event was organized by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).
The main objective of this international round table was to bring together technical experts from different countries of the world to exchange ideas and best practices on mines, improvised explosive devices, and explosive remnants of war, with a special focus on the following topics:
- Innovation and new technologies in mine action;
- Raising public awareness and specialized mine action training;
- National management/coordination and mine action standards (role of national and international organizations, non-governmental organizations and civil society in mine action, as well as mine victims assistance).
Representatives of donors, international humanitarian organizations, as well as demining centers from around the world took part in this meeting.
Acting Director of the Mine Action Center of the Republic of Serbia, Mr Jovica Simonović, on this occasion, introduced to participants humanitarian demining in Serbia, our experience in survey, project development, quality control and management of mine, cluster munitions and other UXO clearance projects, in the form of presentation "Innovations and New Technologies in Mine Action in the Republic of Serbia", with a special emphasis on the use of an unmanned aerial vehicle - drone in humanitarian demining, primarily, in supervising work methodology of a contractor in the field.
