PARTICIPATION OF THE MINE ACTION CENTRE AT THE SECOND INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON „MINE ACTION – THE PATH TO REACHING SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS” HELD IN AGHDAM - BAKU, AZERBAIJAN
The second international conference on „Mine Action – The path to reaching sustainable development goals", was held on 25 and 26 May, in Aghdam and Baku, Azerbaijan, organized by the Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA) and the United Nations (UN).
At this very important international conference, which aimed to inform the international community about the scale of the mine problem and its consequences, among 190 officials from 51 countries, the Mine Action Centre of the Republic of Serbia was represented by the director Mr. Bojan Glamočlija.
Azerbaijan is one of the most mine contaminated countries in the world, and for this very reason, humanitarian demining is one of the main priorities of Azerbaijan's state policy. This is supported by the facts that since November 2020, 81,386 hectares of land have been cleared of mines.
All the participants of the conference contributed with their presence to the opening of new ideas and initiatives for solving tasks in the field of mine action at the global level, with special reference to the fulfillment of the goals of sustainable development according to the UN Agenda
