29th Meeting of the South-Eastern Europe Mine Action Coordination Council (SEEMACC) Held in Belgrade
On December 15, 2022, the 29th Meeting of the South-Eastern Europe Mine Action Coordination Council (SEEMACC) was held in the extended facilities of the Serbian Mine Action Centre, i.e. classroom with a ground and site for training of deminers in Grocka.
Among the participants were representatives of member states of the Council from national mine action authorities from Bosnia and Herzegovina, North Macedonia, Serbia, Croatia, Montenegro, as well as the ITF Enhancing Human Security -Slovenia.
The Mine Detection Dog Training Center (MDDC) from Sarajevo also participated as an observer, as well as the Centre for Testing, Development and Training (CTRO) from Zagreb.
Central European Initiative funded project Capacity Support of Regional Cooperation in Mine Action was presented at the meeting.
SEEMACC participants had the opportunity to present mine action challenges in their states. This included description of achievements, current state of play, needs, and possible solutions in mine action.
Furthermore, regional projects financed through EU mechanisms (Balkan Medical Task Force - BMTF) were presented.
Possibilities for financing of humanitarian mine action projects and defining common regional interests were discussed.
Information regarding UN initiative for the organization of regional conference on mine victims’ assistance was shared with the participants.
