Working Meeting Related to Implementation of Project of Removal of Sunken Ships from the Danube at Prahovo
On February the 25th, 2022, representatives of SMAC, Sector for Emergency Management and Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure held a working online meeting as part of the preparations for the project "Removal of Sunken German World War Two Fleet from the Danube at Prahovo".
During the meeting, the roles of the relevant authorities in terms of protection against unexploded ordnance and the preparation of corresponding technical documentation for the removal of sunken ships were discussed.
Given the importance of this project, which will, once it is completed, contribute, above all, to the increase of safety of navigation in this part of the Danube, safety of people and environmental protection, it was concluded that a multidisciplinary approach is necessary for a successful implementation of this demanding project, which, due to its complexity and specificity, stands as a unique example of underwater demining operations.
